Please join us on Wednesday evening, October 17 at 7:15 p.m. for
mindfulness meditation and teachings with Fred Eppsteiner, at the Yoga
Moves studio, 1045 9th Avenue North, St. Petersburg. This week Fred will
begin the teachings on the Seven Points of Mind Training. Fred’s letter
regarding the resources available on this text is copied below:

Dear Dharma friends,

Beginning the first week in October through the end of December, I will be
teaching weekly in Tampa at Dancing Water Sangha. The text I have chosen
to share with you is The Seven Points of Mind Training, by the Tibetan
master, Chekawa Yeshe Dorje. It is a much loved text in the Tibetan
Buddhist tradition, well known for its fifty or so slogans that help us
apply the full breadth of the Buddha’s Mahayana teachings to daily life.
Based on the Eight Verses of Mind Training that was transmitted to Tibet
by the great Indian Buddhist master, Atisha, it allows us to see into the
full breadth of the Buddhist teachings and to their practical and
realistic application in living situations. I hope you will enjoy and
benefit from these teachings.

While there are currently several translations of this text and numerous
commentaries available, I will be using the translation found in the
following text:

The Great Path of Awakening: The Classic Guide to Using the Mahayana
Buddhist Slogans to Tame the Mind and Awaken the Heart by Jamgon Kongtrul,
 a Shambhala publication.

A Google search will bring to your attention various other published
commentaries available for purchase, as well a numerous websites with
information/commentaries on the mind training (or lojong in Tibetan)
teachings and practices. Search words could be: Chekawa Yeshe Dorje,
Seven Points Mind Training, and Lojong.

Sangha members in Naples have asked that they be included in the teaching
cycle, so I plan to teach the same text during my twice monthly visits to
Naples, as well as at the St. Petersburg sangha. This will allow our
entire practice community to focus on these teachings and practices during
the next three months. These teachings also will be beneficial to the
many sangha members involved in the Intensive. For those unable to
personally attend our Florida sanghas, these weekly Dharma talks will also
be available on our website, www.Floridamindfulness.org.

In the Dharma, Fred
