>From the Buddhist Peace Delegation January 23, 2007:

We have received a special message from Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh, who is
currently on winter retreat at Plum Village. Thay won't be able to join
us, but he sends this to all of you:

"I am happy to hear that my friends in America will gather in Washington, DC
to express the desire of American people for an end to the war in Iraq. When
our mindfulness is strong, we naturally want to act, to reach out and help
change situations of injustice, of suffering.
Every one of us needs to let our representatives in Washington know that we
do not want this war, that we very much want an end to these acts of
violence and destruction committed in the name of the American people and
nation. We must continue to communicate with our leaders about this, and
continually look for new ways to help them see more clearly that war hurts
everyone. Thank you all my friends for your engagement to be peace in
Washington, DC."

Ultimately, we have just one moral duty: to reclaim large areas of peace in
ourselves, more and more peace, and to reflect it towards others. And the
more peace there is in us, the more peace there will be in our troubled
world.
