BEGINNING ANEW IN THE NEW YEAR

January 1, 2007

In the Buddhist tradition, the passing of an old year and the beginning of a
new one is celebrated in a sacred manner. We take stock of the past year,
our life and relationships, our activities and endeavors, and make a sincere
inventory of the actions of our body, speech and mind. Then, symbolically
freeing ourselves from the baggage of the past year, we start the New Year
with renewed focus, motivation and inspiration. Rather than celebrating the
New Year by numbing and clouding the mind, we renew our commitment to awaken
to the richness and beauty of life's fullest potential. Truly, we begin
anew.

We invite you to share this New Year's Day with the Naples Sangha of the
Florida Community of Mindfulness. Beginning at 4 PM, we will have sitting
and walking meditation. This will be followed by guided meditations and
rituals to acknowledge the passing of the year, to facilitate a "letting go"
of the past, to renew ourselves in the present, and to focus our intentions
for the future. Afterwards (approximately 6 PM), we invite you to join us
for drinks (non-alcoholic), dessert and warm fellowship. We also invite
spouses, significant others, and children who are not attending the
meditation and ceremonies, to join us at 6 PM as well.

If you are planning to to attend, please bring a dessert dish to share.
Also, please bring whatever utensils are needed to cut and serve your
particular dish. The Naples Sangha will be providing plates, utensils,
cups, drinks, etc. Please take any remainders of your dessert with you when
you leave, as the Studio lacks storage facilities.
