Dear Friends,
On behalf of the steering committee for Tampa's Dancing Waters Sangha, I
want to let you know about some upcoming activities and events for our
Sangha.
- Thursday evening pre-Sangha discussions about our practice. Beginning
December 6, we'll start a weekly discussion group for anyone interested in
sharing thoughts about their practice. We'll also use these sessions to
provide additional instruction in meditation and related topics, as well
as an opportunity to get input and feedback from Sangha members. The group
will meet from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm, immediately before the regular Thursday
evening Sangha, which begins at 7:00 pm. No pre-registration is required -
simply join us if interested.
- Beginning Anew in the New Year: Save the Date (January 1). In the
Buddhist tradition, the passing of an old year and the beginning of a new
one is celebrated in a sacred manner. Join us at 4:00 pm on January 1st
(location to be announced) as we celebrate the New Year in the Buddhist
tradition, followed by desserts and fellowship. Additional information
about this event will be sent to you within the next week.
- Plans for January Sangha Meetings. During the month of January Sangha
members will facilitate discussions of the Five Mindfulness Trainings. We
will email a copy of the Trainings to everyone in late December, and again
during January, so that all may participate in discussions of what it
means to make these Trainings part of our daily lives. Fred will resume
teaching in February.
As Thich Nhat Hanh said in 'Friends on the Path,' "A true Sangha is a
community that practices the teaching of liberation and becomes free; a
true Sangha practices the teaching of understanding and becomes more
understanding; a true Sangha practices compassion and becomes more
compassionate. Climbing the hill of the twenty-first century can be very
joyful if we climb as a Sangha." We are very grateful for the support of
all of our Sangha members as we practice together to transform our lives
and our society.
With metta,
Angie
